City of Redding - Industrial Waste

The responsibilities of the Industrial Waste Division consist of:  

• Permitting, sampling, and inspections at businesses.

• Review plans and Building Department documents for new commercial businesses.

• The goal is to regulate industrial and commercial discharges to the sanitary sewer system to protect the collection system and treatment plants from wastes that may: obstruct flow, cause damage to the system (explosions, corrosion, grease, etc.), be toxic to the treatment plant organisms, or pass through the treatment plant to the Sacramento River.

• Inspect commercial facilities to protect the storm drain system from pollutants that can harm fish and wildlife in local creeks and the Sacramento River.
